About Priston Mill

Priston Mill was a family run farming business for many years, as well as being a local visitor attraction with tours of the historic Watermill. The Watermill and Tythe Barn were originally part of an agricultural tenancy from the Duchy of Cornwall, held by the Hopwood family, but it was in 1992 when Peter and Christine Hopwood, alongside Andrew Carveth, began the transition from farming business to an events and wedding venues business, which would go on to host many special occasions over the years. 

Our Mission

It's about building something that we are proud of, but importantly something which our guests will be amazed by. All of this is based on a foundation of honesty, value, transparency and trust.


Integrity is everything to us and we love, and are proud to work in hospitality. 


Our mission, from the very start of creating an events business at this incredible location, has been to ensure that everything is the best it can be.  From the way that we look after the historic buildings and gardens around us, to the genuine passion that we have to ensure that our guests, Brides, Grooms and suppliers are welcomed and of course, championing local suppliers and food producers.

Our Team

Consistently delivering brilliant events, and gaining such lovely feedback from our clients, is in no small way down to the dedicated team that we are lucky enough to work with. From the talented group of craftsmen and decorators that maintain the historic buildings, to our imaginative kitchen team, enthusiastic housekeepers and groundsmen, and of course the events team, all of whom work attentively to ensure that there is always a warm welcome to all who come to Priston Mill.


The thing that every one of our team members has in common - they care, and take immense pride in all they do.

Our Company

Priston Mill is well established, and highly regarded in Bath and Somerset as a very reputable events and wedding venue business, having hosted special occasions for  over 30 years.


In 2006 Andrew Carveth, who had been working alongside Peter and Christine Hopwood in the business for a number of years, set up PM Hospitality Limited. Initially, this was to service the catering contract at Priston Mill, as he was determined to offer food and drink that focused on delivering a high quality of service, using excellent local ingredients for our clients. 


This was a success, and in 2009 Andy acquired a second property in Somerset, Coombe Lodge, followed by Rockbeare Manor in 2015, making us a proudly independent family of three venues.
